Halloween is fast approaching and this weekend it’s time to get out your costumes out and dance all weekend long! We have dances Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So come on out!

Thursday: Chicken Swing – free lesson and dance at CMU!

Friday: Steel Town Stomp is a Halloween Costume Dance this Friday! Costumes optional: but more fun. Ben Messerly is DJing and teaching the advanced class.

$10 ($8 for students)

Saturday: Swing City – DJ night at the Wightman School (lesson 8-9, dancing 9-midnight, $11). Wear a costume!

Sunday: Five Guys Named Moe are at Edgewood with Kenny Blake sitting in with them. If you wear a PittStop T-shirt you get $1 off the door price.

There are a lot of great dances coming up this weekend starting with Chicken Swing tonight! Friday the Boilermaker Jazz Band is playing at Pittsburgh Dance Center, Saturday Jimmy Adler is playing at Swing City, and Sunday the Boilermaker Jazz Band is playing at Edgewood Club. There is a special deal on Sunday where students with a valid ID get in for only $3!!!

Thursday, Sept. 20th
This week at Chicken Swing, Paul and Michelle will review the swingout from last week as we continue to make the movements feel the best they’ve ever felt. We will also learn a turn or two- and maybe even a dip!

Steel Town Stomp is (tomorrow) Friday August 24th!

There’s a little bit of a change in location from normal – we will be at the beautiful Pittsburgh Dance Center.

Tim Nedimyer will be DJing as well as teaching the intro lesson with the lovely Linda Gale Krause. Sarah Henderson and Lisa Tamres will be teaching the Intermediate/Advanced lesson. Bring your friends! . We’ll have the usual beginning and intermediate dance classes.

Chicken Swing’s summer school is in session. This week, Michelle and Forrest will be teaching a class on Frame Matching as taught by Joe DeMers and Nelle Hatley from Denver. According to Joe and Nelle ( http://www.joeandnelle.com/):

Frame Matching is a codified theory of partner-dance connection. It establishes a framework for breaking down and teaching Swing and Blues dance connection. It is the act of creating, maintaining, or changing tension between partners with posture and tone, in order to lead and follow energy and direction. Frame Matching is explained in terms of ∆PTED, which stands for changes in posture, tone, tension, energy, and the direction of energy.
